Choosing a Mac Brightness App

Start with the display you own and the controls you need. Support and trial terms differ between apps.

Lumi’s current beta

Lumi controls the built-in XDR panel and shows estimated nit targets. Validation currently covers one 14-inch M2 Pro MacBook Pro on macOS 27.0.1. External displays are not controlled; other MacBook sizes and OLED remain unverified.

Other apps

Check the vendors’ current documentation rather than assuming the same compatibility or trial policy: Vivid, BetterDisplay and BrightIntosh.

Before choosing

Confirm your exact panel and macOS version. A requested nit value is not a measured brightness result, and a display’s HDR peak is not sustained full-screen output.
